The start of 2018 was one for the books. On the third day of the year, Daufuskie experienced something that rarely happens on this warm sea island, snow. Not freezing rain. Not a few flurries. Snow. That stuck.
How rare, you ask? According to SCDNR, only 5 times since they started collecting data in 1965 has it snowed more than .1 inches in Beaufort County. The biggest accumulation being 5 inches in 1989. We had snowfall in 2010, and bridges were closed in 2014 due to freezing rain, however that did not affect this island.
This already brilliant island appeared even more spectacular with a blanket of white. And we enjoyed every second of it.
