A Year With Sallie: Looking Ahead

With 2017 in the books, we’re looking at all good things for 2018. So what’s new?

First, we have added an additional day to Sallie’s tours. Tour Daufuskie will run the Sallie Ann Robinson Native Gullah Tours on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

We’ve also made a slight adjustment on times. In order to accommodate all water transportation to and from Daufuskie, we now offer her tours at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.

Wanting to grab lunch before or after your tour? With two restaurants on the island, Tour Daufuskie can provide a 2 hour cart rental pre or post tour for $45.00. That will give you time to grab a bite to eat and do a little exploring on your own.

With the Sallie Ann Tour, we can also take care of transportation to and from the island. We will handle all of the details and reservations for you!

Tour Daufuskie and Sallie Ann have big plans for 2018. Give us a call at (843)842-9449 to book the only Gullah Tour on Daufuskie Island.

There’s only one Sallie Ann Robinson, and we have a feeling she will be in high demand this year!

“Just spent a fabulous day with Sallie Ann on Daufuskie Island, learning about her upbringing as part of the Gullah culture. Our group had a personal tour on a golf cart, covering the whole island and stopping at many landmarks and shops. Sallie Ann is bubbly and fun, making her the perfect tour guide! When booking, ask for the Sallie Ann tour…you won’t be disappointed!”

“We live in the Bluffton and have been to Daufuskie a couple of times. With friends visiting from out of town, we thought the tour would be a great way to show them the island. Even if you have been to Daufuskie, taking her tour gives you a completely different view of the Daufuskie.”

“Sally Ann was great. We will be back!! And we have already recommended it to family and friends.”

A Year With Sallie: Best of 2017

22426589_857093377785923_7342165182138508940_oAlthough we kicked off Sallie’s tours at the end of 2016, chilly weather kept things quiet until the beginning of spring. Warmer days with bright sunshine brought our first tours of the year. At the beginning of March, Sallie and her tour groups took advantage of Daufuskie’s beautiful early spring.

This ushered in to one of Sallie’s busiest months of the year, May. May, along with October, proved to be the two most popular months for Sallie’s tours. In both months, tours were booked solid Tuesdays and Saturdays. From couples enjoying a day on the island to corporate groups taking a well needed reprieve, the gorgeous weather in May and October made for perfect tours. 22291350_1126490654152166_8246878185553409075_o

Throughout the year, Sallie had the opportunity to host a number of different groups. Family reunions, company retreats and social organizations all came to spend a day with Sallie. Of the many wonderful tours, one of our favorites was the Beaufort Theatre Company. As a part of the Pat Conroy Literary Festival the theatre company put on Conrack, the performed adaptation of Pat Conroy’s The Water is Wide. Sallie Ann gave an island tour to the performers, allowing for an authentic understanding of the days Pat was on the island teaching at Maryfields School.

Asking Sallie if she had a favorite memory? She laughed and replied, “Just one? I can’t pick out just one!”
