Offered exclusively on Daufuskie Island, ride through the untouched historic roads on horseback. This one and one-half hour to three hour ride is designed to accommodate all levels of riders, from beginners to advanced.
Start your day with a gorgeous ride to Daufuskie Island on either the Daufuskie Island Ferry or May River Excursions’ Water Taxi. Once you arrive to Daufuskie, a Tour Daufuskie representative will meet you at the landing with a golf cart to explore the island before and after the trail ride.
The historic ride will take you down sandy roads laden with Lowcountry oak and pine. You will have the opportunity to take in sites such as the historical First Union African Baptist Church, Mary Field’s School where famed author Pat Conroy taught, Gullah homes dating back to the nineteenth century, and live oaks hundreds of years old.
Morning rides begin at 11:00 and afternoon rides begin at 3:00. Both transportation options will get your party to the island an hour before the ride. This gives you enough time to grab a coffee or snack and arrive to Daufuskie Trail Ride’s Barn to get ready for the ride. Your group will also have time after the ride to explore on your way back to the boat. If an hour isn’t enough, choose the cart extension option and stay the day. Exploring the island on horseback is just one of the many wonderful aspects of Daufuskie Island. Your party can choose to stay after the tour, or come early, to get lunch, check out Daufuskie’s local artisan scene, or take in the rich history and unique culture of Daufuskie Island.
Trail rides can accommodate up to 6 riders. Riders must be at least 12 years of age, however all level or riders are welcomed! Horses can accommodate riders up to 250 lbs and 6’6″. All riders must be physically capable of riding a horse. Please call Tour Daufuskie if you have any questions. (843)842-9449
